Grok Imagine Image Generator: Automatic Sizes and Options

Let the model choose its output size while you focus on the scene, subject and visual direction.

By ImgsGen · Updated

At a glance

Grok Imagine uses automatic size and quality in ImgsGen. The default and 2.0 models offer aspect-ratio choices; Lite chooses its own ratio. Custom pixel sizes, 2K/4K tiers and reference editing are not currently available.

Available models

Choose Grok Imagine Image, Grok Imagine Image 2.0 or Grok Imagine Image Lite. Keep a written prompt when comparing them so that you can judge the interpretation of the same scene. Model availability can change with the connected image service.

Automatic dimensions are part of the workflow

The result may have different dimensions from other models. Grok Lite returned 784 × 1168 pixels in our included paper-sculpture example. This is one observed output, not a fixed specification. Use the dimensions shown for your own image when preparing a final layout.

Quality and image count

Quality is chosen automatically. You can request 1–4 images, and the studio saves the pictures actually returned. Notices explain adjustments to the image count or size. Check the completed files before starting another batch.

When to choose a different model

If you need exact custom pixels, selectable quality or a reference picture, use a model that exposes those controls. GPT Image currently provides these options in ImgsGen. Grok reference-image editing is not enabled.
